Dr. Okoli is a veterinarian with over three decades of experience in both private and public sectors. She is a Fellow of the Post Graduate College of Veterinary Surgeons and a Consultant in Veterinary Public Health. Holding certifications in Epidemiology, Project Management, and Monitoring and Evaluation in Global Health from the University of Washington. Dr. Okoli advocates vigorously for the One Health approach, particularly in combating diseases like Rabies and other zoonotic illnesses. She has led several national initiatives, including the National Rabies Technical Working Group and the Zoonoses Technical Area of the National Action Plan for Health Security. Nicknamed “mama Rabies” by colleagues, her dedication to eradicating preventable deaths from Rabies is fuelled by her deep compassion, evident in her emotional response to human cases, particularly those involving children. Dr. Okoli’s commitment and expertise position her as a driving force in advancing Rabies control efforts.
